Dr. Nilsen starts off the New Faculty Seminar with information about Eastern’s core values. Understanding those core values will enable all faculty members to communicate positively with students, parents, alumni, donors and other constituents.

John Henderson, Director of Instructional Technology Services, Center for Academic Technology Support (CATS)
Learn about the software and hardware on specific computer stations across campus that will allow students with disabilities the accommodation of a test reader without a personal reader.

Learn about the machine scoring of exams and surveys available through the Office of Academic Assessment and Testing.

Dr. Nadler continues the New Facutly Seminar by sharing information about the services and programs offered through the Student Affairs division.

New faculty will be informed about ethics in grading and helping students with academic concerns and academic integrity.

  Mona Davenport, Director, Minority Affairs

The Office of Minority Affairs directs four major programs: the Gateway Program, the Peer-Helper Program, the Minority Internship Program (MIP) and the TRiO (Student Support Services) Program. This session will familiarize new faculty with the Office of Minority Affairs and some of the new initiatives surrounding recruitment and retention of faculty, staff and students of color.

  Wendy Williamson, Director, Study Abroad
 

This session will focus on how faculty can can get involved in study abroad programs. Many types of study abroad programs are available to EIU students, including faculty-led study abroad programs. Where will your students go?
