Eastern Illinois University offers a B.S. degree in Biology with an interdisciplinary option in Environmental Biology. The environmental biology option requires students to complete a broadly based curriculum in botany, zoology, chemistry, economics, geology/earth sciences and mathematics.
The Program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in natural resource management, conservation biology and environmental health. The Program Coordinator meets individually with students to help guide them along the path toward achieving their goals
One of the unique aspects of the environmental biology option is the internship requirement. The internship is defined as 480 hours (twelve 40-hour work weeks) of on-the-job training and experience with an environmental organization. College credit is granted for a successful internship experience.
