Environmental Biology

environmental biology
The Environmental Biology Program (EVB) was started to give those Biological Sciences students who are interested in environmental careers a structured curriculum that will provide them with the tools necessary to pursue their goals. As such, EVB students get hands-on training through their course work and the internship program while receiving college credit.
The EVB program is especially geared for students who are interested in careers in Natural Resource Management, Conservation Biology, and Environmental Health. Our faculty have expertise and our students tend to pursue carreers in such fields as Wildlife and Fisheries Biology, Landscape Ecology / Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Plant and Forest Ecology, Invertebrate Ecology, Aquatic Systems, Environmental Toxicology, Ecological / Conservation Genetics and Microbial Ecology just to name a few.

Welcome

Our goal is to train future leaders in the environmental sciences.  The solutions to the challenges we face concerning the environment can only come through sound science and balanced management. This is an interdisciplinary pursuit that must combine academic disciplines to incorporate their contributions into a broader understanding of the world and our place in it.

The Environmental Biology Program at Eastern Illinois University provides the foundation for students to pursue their goals with a wide-ranging and interdisciplinary curriculum as well as a structured internship program that gives our students hands-on experience in their field.  EVB students are advised by the Environmental Biology Program Coordinator who individually meets with each student to help them construct a path to achieve their goals.
