3-1 Designation of Building Safety Representatives
- 3-1.1 Appointment
- 3-1.11 The University Administration will appoint one capable
person in every building of the University as the "Fire
and Safety Representative" for that building and/or as
per schedule. (Appendix VII)
- 3-1.12 The name of the building Fire and Safety Representative
shall be furnished to the Safety Section by September 1 each
year.
- 3-1.2 Residence Halls
- 3-1.21 Residence Hall Counselors shall
be the Building Fire and Safety Representatives for the residence
halls.
3-2 Responsibility and Duties of the Fire and Safety Representative
- 3-2.1 Responsibility
- 3-2.11 The person designated as Fire and Safety Representative
shall be directly responsible to work with the University
Safety Committee and director for organizing and conducting
a workable fire and safety program for his/her building, utilizing
this safety manual as a guide line. This responsibility will
be considered as a regularly assigned duty along with his/her
other normally assigned University duties.
- 3-2.2 Duties
- 3-2.21 The appointed person will make a report of his/her
activities to the University Safety Director on a monthly
basis, using special form provided (Appendix VII-3). The Safety
Officer will be available to the Building Fire and Safety
Representative for advice and assistance in organizing the
Fire and Safety Program in his/her building and for advice
and assistance on special problems that may arise from time
to time.
- 3-2.22 The duties of the Building Fire and Safety Representative
are as follows: 3-2.221 Coordinate all fire and safety activities
in accordance with the regulations outlined in this manual.
.222 With assistance of University Health and Safety committee
and Safety Director, prepare a fire suppression and evacuation
plan for each floor in his/her building and post it in a conspicuous
place on each floor in the building. This plan will contain
the floor plan, primary evacuation route, fire escape location,
fire exits,and location of fire alarm pull stations and fire
fighting equipment such as standpipes, pre-connected hoses,
and fire extinguishers.

Officer
