Eastern Illinois University's Recycling Program

Eastern Illinois University's recycling program was established in 1992 in order to meet a state mandate that requires all Illinois universities to reduce their waste stream 40% by the year 2000.

Not only is our voluntary recycling program helping to meet this goal, it also creates a more environmentally responsible campus, provides student employment opportunities, and has enabled us to participate in a joint project with a local school district's training program, providing real work experiences for students who are developmentally disabled.
