Permanent Members

•  The following is a listing of Permanent Members to the Environmental Health and Safety Committee:

•  Representative from Human Resources – Chuck Phillips absent

•  Representative from Housing/Dining Services - Mark Shaklee present

•  Representative from Arts and Humanities - Jeff Boshart absent

•  Representative from Life Science - Sandra Baumgartner present

•  Representative from Education and Professional Studies - Robert Bates absent

•  Representative from Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences [Lumpkin Hall]- Karen Nantz present

•  Representative from Facilities Planning and Management - Mike Carter Jr. absent

•  Campus Safety Officer. The Campus Safety Officer will permanently serve as the Meeting Convener. - Gary Hanebrink present

The Minutes from the February 8 meeting:

  1. Comments on the January 8 meeting were expressed and approval of the minutes will be deferred until the March meeting.
  2. The committee goals for 2005 are-
  • Bylaws

  • Emergency Preparedness- [ no action ]
    1. After Hours calls for tornado warnings
    2. Reassembly points outside and inside the building
    3. Review the Blair Hall emergency
    4. Campus wide emergency drill
    5. Campus wide evacuation plan
  • Reporting- reports from UPD, HR, etc.
    1. Reports from other origination and committees on campus.
  1. The committee discussed the Accident report prepared by the EHS department.
  2. Discussed the committee's goal of reviewing Blair Hall Fire emergency. It was the consensuses of the EHSC to actively pursue this discussion in future meetings.
  3. Martha Brown continue the discussion on the EHSC's By Law – Membership

•  What type of member would make up the EHSC.

• i. Functional- has some form of public actives [Lantz – basketball games]

• ii. Experience – a person who has environmental, health, and safety duties on campus.

• iii. Area Constituent members [VPBA, VPAA, VPSA, College of…]
