  • Approved November minutes and December minutes with changes.
  • Animal in stairwell needs to be moved.
  • Further discussed IRB and IACUC.
  • Discussed the need of having an inventory of where all animals are on campus, which will assist with safety of animals.
  • Will let Bob Chestnut get all things organized and see if he can or will take on thorough review of IRB and IACUC on all of campus and not just for grants in research.
  • Microorganisms are not covered in IACUC. Places to purchase chemicals or organisms require the university to verify they have proper laboratories and training before purchases can be made. • We currently have Doug Brent as the Radiation Safety Officer and Gary Hanebrink as the Laser Safety Officer.
  • “Chemical Hygiene Plans” – A reminder will be sent out to departments by Jeff Cross. Plans should be sent to Gary Hanebrink.

  • Respirators from Homeland Security will be issued to the UPD.
  • University Police Department is working on getting certification for hazardous chemical response.
  • The need for a fire lane between Andrew and Lawson halls needs to be looked into.
