Debra Valentino holds a B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology (Communication Disorders) with a double major in English from Eastern Illinois University. She attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and completed an M.A. in English at Northern Illinois University with a concentration in Rhetoric and Composition. After graduation, she studied Technical Writing and Communication at NIU. She has served as a freelance technical writer, editor, and consultant in the sciences, public relations, and software development. She began teaching Freshman Composition and Introduction to Literature at EIU in 1991. In 1998, Ms. Valentino’s classes presented The Andrea Will Memorial Poetry Reading at the Tarble Arts Center on campus.
