Ruth Hoberman

Ruth Hoberman’s areas of teaching and research include modern British literature and women’s studies. In 2006, she was named Eastern’s Distinguished Faculty Member. She is the co-editor, with Kathryn N. Benzel, of Trespassing Boundaries: Virginia Woolf’s Short Fiction (2004) and the author of Gendering Classicism: The Ancient World in Twentieth-Century Women’s Historical Fiction (1997) and Modernizing Lives: Experiments in English Biography, 1918-1939 (1987). Her essays have appeared in such journals as Twentieth Century Literature, Feminist Studies, Victorian Literature and Culture, and Woolf Studies Annual. She is currently at work on a book manuscript tentatively titled Museum Trouble: Narratives of Conflict in the Edwardian Museum.
