Dagni Bredesen's research and teaching interests include 19th century British studies and South African literature. She recently edited and introduced a new edition of the first works in British fiction to feature professional women detectives--The Female Detective (1864) and Revelations of a Lady Detective (1864)-- published by Scholars' Facsimiles and Reprints. Her scholarly writing has appeared in such journals as Victorian Review and Clues: A Journal of Detection, as well as in a collection of essays Remaking Queen Victoria (Cambridge University Press). Dr. Bredesen has led study abroad programs for Eastern students to both Cape Town, South Africa, and Harlaxton College in Grantham, England. In addition to her work in the English Department, Dr. Bredesen serves as the Director of Faculty Development.
