IMPORTANT
Notices

The deadline for the 2008-2009 cohort has passed. We are currently accepting applications for the 2009-2010 cohort,
which includes teaching full time in the 2009-2010 school year. The application deadline is April 30, 2009. Internships must be secured by May 31, 2009.


Candidates applying for the program must provide evidence
of having passed two tests. The first is the Illinois Basic Skills Test, and
the second is the applicable content-area test corresponding to the intended content teaching
area. Information about test sites, dates, and study
guides for tests are available at www.icts.nesinc.com.

Candidate Prerequisites: Candidates applying for program admission must have completed the following:

  • Have graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree (GPA 2.65 or higher on a 4.0 scale) and a major or minor in the intended area of certification.
  • Have been employed for a period of at least 5 years in an area requiring application of the individual’s education.
  • Have passed the Illinois Basic Skills test and applicable subject matter test required by the state for certification in the candidate’s intended teaching endorsement area (information and online registration available at www.icts.nesinc.com).
  • Secured a commitment from a school district to be hired (and paid as a full-time teacher) for the internship.
