Follow the Evidence: The Trial of the Lincoln Conspirators
Edman Spangler was employed at Ford's Theatre. On April 14, 1865 it was his job to prepare the presidential box for the evening's performance. While John Wilkes Booth attacked President Lincoln, Spangler attended to Booth's horse then he later placed himself by the theatre's back door to help aid Booth in his escape. Edman Spangler was charged with aiding John Wilkes Booth's escape from Ford's Theatre after President Lincoln's assassination.
