    • Students with Math ACT scores of 17, 18, or 19 must be enrolled in MAT 1270 their first semester.
    • Students pursing a major in Business and who have a Math ACT score of 20 or higher will be eligible for EIU4 and will not be required to enroll in MAT 1271 their first semester.

  • Math
    • Students pursing a Math major must have a Math ACT score of 27 or higher.
  • All majors
    • Students not enrolled in at least 14 hours their first semester will not be extended a four-year guarantee, unless they have work completed from high school that has successfully transferred into EIU for credit.
    • **All other students in an eligible major (including undeclared) will be offered a four-year guarantee from the university, unless they have a second major or minor(s) that requires 121 hours or more to complete.**
    • Students who declare an ineligible major and later switch to an eligible major during their freshman year must apply to the program during their freshman year if they wish the university to extend them a four-year guarantee.  Students in ineligible majors who switch to an eligible major after their freshman year will not be considered retroactively for EIU4.
  • All Majors
    • To stay eligible for the four-year guarantee students need to complete 30 hours per academic year (an average of 15 hours per semester).  If they drop a class they will need to make up the hours the subsequent semester or over the summer and must avoid falling more than 6 hours behind to remain eligible for the four-year guarantee (or they must notify the coordinator in writing that they intend to make up hours over the summer and have a reasonable plan to do so).
    • Students who fall more than 6 hours behind and who have not notified the coordinator in writing of their intentions to take summer courses or have a reasonable plan to catch up in some other way will be made ineligible.
    • Student who are more than 3 hours behind will be placed on “Under Review” until they have completely caught up in hours and will be made ineligible if they fall further than 6 hours behind or fail to make up the hours prior to graduation.
    • Students who remain undeclared beyond the May 1st deadline will become ineligible for the four-year guarantee.
    • Students who are dismissed from EIU for any reason will automatically become ineligible for the EIU4 guarantee.
    • **Students who switch majors or add minors and option may be made ineligible if it is determined by the EIU4 Coordinator that they cannot reasonably complete their degree within four years.**
  •  School of Business
    • Business majors who have a Math ACT of 17, 18 or 19 should complete the MAT 1270, 1271, 2120G sequence by the end of their sophomore year or by the end of the first semester of their junior year at the latest to remain eligible.
    • Business majors should be fully admitted to the School of Business with upper division standing by the end of their sophomore (2nd) year or by the end of the first semester of their junior year at the latest to remain eligible.
