NCE Exam

Planning for Spring 2010

The date for the Spring 2010 NCE exam is April 17th.The deadline to apply is January 15th, 2010.

Student Eligibility

In terms of eligibility, all applicants should be well-advanced in their coursework. Alums who graduated before October 2009 are not eligible for the NCC through this student application program. Students taking additional classes to complete state licensure requirements may be eligible if they hold a completed degree from your counselor education program.

Confusion about State Licensure

When students apply under the GSA-NCC program, they are applying for a voluntary national credential (the NCC). Several requirements must be met after students have passed the NCE before they can have their scores sent to third parties, such as state licensure boards. NBCC communicates those requirements and due dates to students with their score reports. It is important for them to stay on top of this process until they are certified. Failing to do so can result in the closing of their applications and invalidations of their scores. We try to also remind them frequently of the importance of keeping NBCC up-to-date on any address changes.

Suggestions for Exam Preparation
