Graduate Assistantship Description
TITLE OF POSITION: Graduate Assistant to International Programs
WORK SCHEDULE: G.A. will normally work a regular 18 hours per week schedule. During orientation and/or special programming some evening and weekend work will be required. Flex time will be issued as compensation.
G.A. will be required to report to work one week before semester starts in order to assist with newly arriving students.
REMUNERATION :
1. $850.00 monthly stipend (increase after probationary period possible)
2. Attendance of NAFSA professional conference (final semester)
3. Possible international student recruitment opportunities (national/international travel)
4. Tuition waiver (excluding fees)
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist IP staff members with intl. student orientation at beginning of each semester. (flex schedule required)
- Work with EIU’s international student population on acclimation to life in the Midwest.
- Participate in international student recruitment at regional colleges and international student recruitment fairs.
- Create publicity materials for campus events and recruitment
- Write and create bi-monthly International Programs newsletter with supervision
- Other duties as assigned
