Department Admission

Admission Sequence and Requirements

  1. A minimum 2.75 GPA is required for admission to the program; a 3.0 GPA is preferred.
  2. Admitted students are required to obtain a Graduate Assistantship or to be employed with an area College or University. Graduate Assistantships also require a 2.75 minimum GPA.
  3. Complete the Graduate School Admission application.
  4. Complete and submit the Departmental Admission application for College Student Affairs or Counseling.
  5. Submit TWO Departmental Recommendation Forms from individuals familiar with the applicant's academic or work performance. (The department prefers academic references if possible).
  6. Deadline for submitting materials for all tracks: March 1. CSA applications received by February 20, 2011 will receive priority.  
  7. Based on materials supplied above, each applicant will be screened to determine who will be invited to interview. The 20011 admitted students will be chosen from this invited group. If you are not selected for an interview, you may request that your file be held for next year's review.

For those who are invited to interview, the dates and times for the 2011 academic year are as follows: Monday, March 5, 2011 for Community Counseling and School Counseling applicants. College Student Affairs applicants will attend CSA days from Sunday February 26 - Tuesday, February 28, 2011.
