Thanks and Congratulations
Thanks to all who participated in the 2009 Chemistry Contest on May 20th. This year marked the 34th consecutive year for the contest, and the second time in the last 10 years, that it was postponed a week due to severe weather. Nevertheless, 10 of the 12 schools originally entered in the contest were able to participate in the rescheduled contest.
As usual, the competition was as keen as ever. The individual portion of the contest included ties for 1st and 2nd place--a first! In the team competition, less than 1.25 points separated 2nd-5th place teams. Wow!
Congratulations to Logan Smith (Georgetown-Ridge Farm) and Sam Gegg (Mahomet-Seymour) who tied for 1st place in the individual portion of the contest with scores of 42.75.
Congratulations as well to the team from Georgetown-Ridge Farm HS and their coach Sam Corbin for winning the team portion of the Contest with a combined team average of 29.75. Mahomet-Seymour placed second with team average of 24.78
