Thank You!

Chicago (north), Illinois. Children at flag dedication ceremonyWe would like to offer a heart felt thank you to all veterans that served our country in the past or are currently doing so.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.  In honor of Veterans Day we have created a new page on the EIUTPS website called "Patriotic Songs" that features the official songs of our military branches: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy.  You will find audio, song sheets, lyrics and links to more information found at the Library of Congress.

You are our heroes!

What is Teaching with Primary Sources?

The Library of Congress's Teaching with Primary Sources (TPS) program works with an educational consortium of schools, universities, libraries, and foundations to help teachers use the Library’s vast collection of digitized primary sources to enrich their classroom instruction.

Teaching with Primary Sources builds on the success of the Library's previous outreach initiatives, particularly the American Memory Fellows and An Adventure of the American Mind programs. Eastern Illinois University Teaching with Primary Sources has been actively collaborating with local educators since the program inception in January 2004 and is proud to support the goals and mission of the national TPS program.  TPS was brought to the EIU campus thanks to the efforts of Senator Dick Durbin.

These pages feature information and links to primary sources that are relative to exhibits within the Museum.  These resources can be beneficial for those planning a fieldtrip to Springfield as well as those unable to visit but desiring to expose students to primary sources that offer a new way to learn about President Lincoln.
