SPECIMEN TREES ON THE EASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY CAMPUS: A WALKING TOUR

Last Tree    Next Tree

1. Bur Oak (Quercus macrocarpa). This particular specimen is of interest because it was about 100 years old when Old Main was built. The acorn cup, with its conspicuously fringed border and twigs with corky ridges help to identify this oak.
