| Program Highlights | |
With 14,000 students, Linnaeus/Växjö University is similar in size to EIU. Over 650 international students study at Växjö each year, and many students will be on exchange programs just like you. You will find a very supportive and helpful International Office staff to assist you at Linnaeus/Växjö. The town of Växjö is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Forests, lakes and rivers make it an attractive area for those who love outdoor activities. Växjö is a highly modern town of 76,000 inhabitants. There are excellent sports facilities plus a rich cultural life - with a concernt hall, a theatre, museums and cinemas. |

Vaxjo is currently ungoing a merger with another university. With the onlgoing merge, they expect changes in the course offerings for the Spring of 2010. Linnaeus/Vaxjo has course programs (a series of courses that you will take during the semester) or individual courses (where you can pick and choose classes for the semester) offered to international exchange students, all of which are taught in English. | Student Life | |
Each semester, the International Office organizes an orientation for all international students. This orientation session will help you become acquainted with classes and life at Linnaeus/Växjö. You will find a lot to do on campus and in the city when you study at Växjö. International students are also paired up with Swedish students as "buddies" in order to help you get situated in Växjö more quickly. Most Swedish students use bicycles to get around town and campus. The International Office at Linnaeus/Växjö can give you information on where to buy a used bike if you are interested. If biking does not appeal to you, you can also walk or take the public buses to get around. For lots of useful information about studying at Linnaeus/Växjö, click here. Public transportation in Europe is excellent, and you will find it easy to travel within Sweden and to other areas of Europe with relative ease. Bus, train, or plane travel is more affordable in Europe than in the States. |
