| Program Highlights | |
The National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUIM) is located in County Kildare, Maynooth, about 25 km (15 miles) west of Dublin city centre. The student population is about 1/2 that of EIU at just over 6,000 students. NUIM has a rich history dating back to 1795 and is Ireland's 2nd oldest university. Maynooth is a small town of about 8,500 people and could be described as a suburb of Dublin due to its close proximity to this city. Unlike American suburbs, Maynooth has a classic, Irish feel with many historical sites and quaint country roads to visit and explore. |

Academic Programs |
|
NUI, Maynooth offers courses in 3 faculties, but not all courses are open to international students. International students are able to take courses in the following areas:
Go to NUI, Maynooth's web site on choosing courses, for information on how international students should go about choosing courses at Maynooth. |

| Student Life | |
In addition to an orientation week and activities put on by the NUIM International Office, the larger NUIM community encourages campus involvement by international students. You could join one of many Clubs or Societies or attend one of the numerous campus social events. There's even an International Students' Society that plans excursions to other areas of Ireland as well as other events specifically for international students. Travel around Ireland is easily done by air, train, or bus; however, bus travel is the most affordable. Since Ireland is such a compact country, you can travel almost anywhere within a couple hours. If you want to explore other areas of Europe, affordable flights (usually ranging from $50-100 one-way) can be taken from Dublin to other major European cities. |
