EIU offers high quality, affordable study abroad opportunities
that allow students to experience the culture, customs, and people of
another country while using their financial aid. What’s more, students
can still graduate on time!
In addition to summer, semester, and year-long study abroad programs around the world, we offer a diverse portfolio of international courses with EIU faculty. This allows students to travel along side and learn from accomplished professors.
Study abroad can increase self understanding and confidence, speed up maturity, influence one's world view, enhance one's interest in studying, help one decide on a major, heighten foreign language skills, develop an open mind, encourage diversity, and influence/impact one's entire life for the better. Read The Benefits of Study Abroad: New Study Confirms Significant Gains by Mary M. Dwyer, Ph.D. and Courtney K. Peters for more information.
Not only can studying abroad help in life, it can give students the cutting edge in their job markets. Only about 1% of college students study abroad. However, surveys show that graduates who have studied abroad secure more job offers, better job offers, and higher starting salaries in their fields. How can students NOT take advantage of such an opportunity?
