Graduate Study in Economics

The Department of Economics wants to help qualified individuals achieve their goals for graduate education and real world problem solving. Master of Arts in Economics

The Master of Arts degree provides training for positions in business, government, or continued training at the doctoral level.  Whether your goal is private, public, or Ph.D., our program is designed to develop your analytical and critical thinking, writing, and quantitative skills. 

Requirements for a Master of Arts Degree in Economics

Students may choose between a thesis and non-thesis option. The thesis option requires ten Courses including the following:

Econometrics
Advanced Macroeconomic Theory
Advanced Microeconomic Theory
Thesis
Six other graduate economics courses.

The non-thesis option requires eleven Courses including the following:

Econometrics
Advanced Macroeconomic Theory
Advanced Microeconomic Theory
Research Methods
Seven other graduate economics courses
Participation in the Department of Economics Graduate Forum
