WELCOME TO EASTERN
AND THE
OFFICE OF DISABILITY SERVICES
The mission of the Office of Disability Services (ODS) is to advocate for students with disabilities so they have an equal opportunity to participate in all facets of University life; to provide and coordinate support services and programs that enable students with disabilities to have an equal opportunity to maximize their educational potential; and to increase the level of awareness among all members of the University so that students with qualifying disabilities have an opportunity to perform at a level limited only by their abilities, not their disabilities.
ODS advocates accessible opportunities through the provision and coordination of a diversity of support services tailored to meet the unique and specific needs of each individual. In partnership with each student, ODS works with other University departments and offices and with a variety of outside agencies to enhance the capacity of students with disabilities to achieve at an optimal level of effectiveness and performance.
This student handbook was developed to serve as a guide for students with disabilities to the process of accessing available University resources. You are encouraged to familiarize yourself with its contents. All information is current through January 2005.
You, the student, are an integral participant in your education and in the process of obtaining access. You are encouraged to contact the Office of Disability Services when you have questions or concerns.
We look forward to working with you.
