First Choice Graduate Programs
The Department of Counseling and Student Development is currently home to a pair of master's degree programs that have earned the honorable designation as "First Choice" programs at Eastern Illinois University.
The College Student Affairs degree program earned this distinction in 2009 and will carry it until at least 2013, while the Counseling program recently earned the distinction and will carry through 2014.

Graduate programs achieving the distinction of "First Choice" have applied for and been subjected to rigorous review from EIU's Council on Graduate Studies — with oversight from The Graduate School — to ensure they meet the highest standards of scholarly excellence as evidenced through sustained achievement of criteria developed and adopted by the council in 2006. |
