Two new faculty members join Communication Studies

Two new faculty members joined the staff of the Communication Studies Department at Eastern Illinois University this fall.
Claudia Janssen comes to Eastern from Purdue University, where she has been working on her Ph. D. specializing in Public Relations and Issues Management, as well as Organizational Rhetoric. She also served as a Graduate Lecturer and Teaching Assistant in the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue. Twice Claudia has received top paper awards from the Central States Communication Association and was honored with a Fulbright Fellowship from the Fulbright Association in Berlin, Germany in 2006. Her Master's degree was earned at Technical University Carolo-Wilhelmina in Braunschweig, Germany. She will be teaching primarily Public Relations courses at EIU.
Scott Walus will be teaching Mass Communication courses at Eastern. He is set to receive his Ph. D. in Media Studies / Mass Communication from the University of Missouri. Both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees are from Illinois State University. Scott has been a Graduate Teaching Assistant at both Missouri and Illinois State and has received top papers recognition on three occasions from either the National Communication Association or the Central States Communication Association. He is also founder and leader of Cavetone Records, which is a non-profit all-vinyl record label in Columbia, Missouri.
