Two Comm Studies majors selected for research conference
Two Communication Studies majors have been selected to join a group of Eastern Illinois University students at an honors conference this spring.
Brittany Toolis, a senior from Chicago (St. Ignatius H.S.) and Clinton Brown, a junior from Charleston will present their research at the National Council on Undergraduate Research Conference in LaCrosse, Wisconsin in April. Brown's project is entitled, "Exploring the Construction and Interpretation of Identity: The Verbal and Nonverbal Communication (or Not) of Sexual Orientation." The paper being presented by Brittany Toolis was co-authored by former classmates Brittni Thornton and Stephanie Ashbaugh and is entitled, "Negotiating Relational Maintenence and Change: Conversations Between Young Adult Children and Parents/Grandparents."
Both students were mentored by Dr. Shirley Bell, Professor of Communication Studies. Both papers were accepted and forwarded for nomination by the Eastern Illinois University Honors College.
Toolis and Brown will be part of a group of approximately 40 Eastern Illinois University students who have been selected to present research at the conference.
