Matt Gill named Graduate Coordinator
The Eastern Illinois University Department of Communication Studies has a new Graduate Coordinator.
Dr. Matt Gill has been named Graduate Coordinator, effective July 1st. Gill succeeds Dr. Olaf Hoerschelmann, who stepped down to take a new position as Director of the School of Mass Communication at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
Dr. Gill came to Eastern in 2007 and has taught primarily in the area of Public Relations. In 2012, he received the E. I. U. Students' Distinguished Faculty Award for Distinguished Academic Excellence, which is the highest award that can be bestowed on an Eastern faculty member by the student body. Dr. Gill is the coordinator of E.I.U.'s Public Relations Minor and a member of the university's Intercollegiate Athletic Board. He holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Communication and Public Relations and a Master's Degree in Public Affairs and Issue Management from Purdue University .
In his new position, Dr. Gill will continue to teach courses in the Communication Studies department, but will also coordinate the department's Master's Degree program.
