WEIU-TV News Watch wins 3rd straight Regional Emmy

For the third year in a row, Eastern Illinois University's student-produced newscast has won an Emmy Award for Best College TV Newscast in the midwest.

WEIU-TV News Watch has been named winner of the 2011 Mid-America Regional Emmy as the top college newscast in Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas.  WEIU also won the award in 2009 and 2010.

WEIU-TV News Watch is Eastern's 30-minute student produced local newscast.  It airs from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The program has been honored as the top college newscast in Illinois three times in the last two years, and finished in the top three in the nation in two other college newscast competitions in the past year.

The Emmy award will be presented at the annual Mid-America Emmy gala October 22nd in St. Louis.
