WEIU-TV News Watch wins another Regional Emmy

EIU Student Broadcasters at Emmy Gala

For the second year in a row, WEIU-TV News Watch has won an Emmy Award for Best College TV Newscast in the midwest.

Eastern's student-produced newscast won a Mid-America Regional Emmy as the top college newscast in Illinois, Missouri, and Arkansas.  News Watch beat out the University of Missouri, which was also a finalist for the award.  WEIU also won the award in 2009.

WEIU-TV News Watch is Eastern's 30-minute student produced local newscast.  It airs from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The program has been honored as the top college newscast in Illinois three times in the last two years, and is also a finalist for the Best College Newscast in the nation in a contest sponsored by Collegiate Broadcasters Incorporated.

Several broadcasting students from Eastern were on hand for the Emmy awards gala October 9th in St. Louis.
