Visiting professor to discuss social media & environmental activism in China

A professor from the University of Utah will visit Eastern Illinois University to speak about the role of Social Media in Environmental Activism in China. 

Associate Professor Kevin DeLuca from the University of Utah will deliver a public presentation titled "China and Social Media: Exploring New Forms of Activism."

DeLuca is an internationally reknowned environmental scholar who specializes in the discourses of environmental movements. He is the author of Image Politics: The New Rhetoric of Environmental Activism, and has written numerous journal articles in communication and environmental journals. He is also a fellow of the Hinckley Institute of Politics at the University of Utah. The Institute is dedicated to teaching students respect for practical politics and the principle of citizen involvement in government.

The talk will be delivered at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 13 in the Doudna Fine Arts Center Lecture Hall. A reception will follow.  The presentation is open to the public and is free of charge.
