Guest Speaker

The guest speaker for Communication Day will be Seth Fein, founder of the Pygmalion Music Festival in Champaign-Urbana.  He will speak at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10th, in the Charleston-Mattoon Room of the EIU Union

Seth Fein was born and raised in Urbana, Ill. and started playing in a band at the age of 5 with his brother to an audience that included his parents and both sets of grandparents. After a ten-year hiatus, he performed and toured nationally with bands from 1995 - 2004, starting with Absinthe Blind (Parasol Records) and then with Headlights (Polyvinyl Records). In 2005, he stopped performing and founded Pygmalion Music Festival in Champaign-Urbana, which has grown in each of its eight years since its inception from 500 attendance in its first year to averaging over 5,000 in its past three years. In addition, he is the founder and publisher of Smile Politely magazine, as well as a touring company, Nicodemus Agency. He represents notable artists such as Damien Jurado, Stars of the Lid, Maserati, and a bunch of other indie artists that almost no one has ever heard of.  He lives in Champaign, Ill with his wife, Justine, a photographer, his cat, Crimson, and dog, Catuli.
Seth Fein has a B.A. in Rhetoric from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
