Commencement at EIUCommencement is one of the most exciting events of the year at Eastern Illinois University — and for the graduates and families involved, it's also one of the most memorable.

EIU hosts two annual commencements, at the end of the spring and fall semesters. Those graduating at the end of the summer semester are included in the fall ceremonies. If summer graduates wish to participate in the spring ceremonies, they should contact their college Dean’s office to request to participate by exceptionality.

Frequently asked questions:

I missed the deadline to order cap and gown, what do I do?

Email Herff Jones representative Patty Storie at pattystorie@att.net. Provide her with your college, degree, major, height, weight and cap size.

How many tickets will I get?

The 10am and the 1pm graduates will receive 10 tickets.

Where do I pick up my cap and gown?

Cap and gown pick up will be in the Mattoon/Charleston room on the 3rd floor of the Union. Distribution will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13, and Thursday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Additional cap and gown pick up will be available from 1-5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, in the Student Rec Center, or one hour prior to your ceremony in the Student Rec Center.

Where do I get tickets?

Tickets can be picked up in the Arcola/Tuscola room on the 3rd floor of the Union. Distribution will be held on Wednesday, December 13 and Thursday, December 14 from 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Can a friend or family member pick up my cap and gown and tickets?

Yes, please have them bring a signed note with your name, E number, college, degree and major.

Ticket Availability

Allotted tickets will be available to each student for each respective ceremony.

    • 10 tickets

Ticket distribution will be Dec. 13-14, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Arcola/Tuscola Rooms, MLK Union. More information about ticket distribution is available on our Before Commencement page.
