History Department and the Epsilon Mu Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta annual History Department Honors Banquet | May 2, 6 pm | 7th Street Underground, Martin Luther King Jr. University Union
Refreshments will begin at 6 pm, with the meal, a poetry reading by history graduate student Emily Scarbrough, a short film on Sojourner Truth by history major Breeahnah Babers, the awards presentation, and a speaker to follow. The cost of the meal and speaker is $20.00 per person, payable to Epsilon Mu, PAT. The featured speaker will be Dr. Richard England, Dean of the Honors College at Eastern Illinois University, whose talk is entitled “Missionary and Darwinian: John Thomas Gulick and the Contingencies of History.”

Lavender Graduation is an annual ceremony conducted at EIU to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and ally students and to acknowledge their achievements and contributions to the university. Graduating students, including undergraduates and graduates, are invited to take part in the celebration along with their families and friends.
