Communication Disorders and Sciences

Narrative: Mrs. Anthony joined the department as Assistant Professor in 2006. She is currently completing her doctorate in Reading Education from the University of Virginia. Mrs. Anthony teaches Introduction to Communication Disorders (CDS 2000), Language Acquisition (CDS 2200), Aural Rehabilitation (CDS 4350), and the Communication Modalities sign language lab (CDS 4800). In addition to supervising in the EIU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic (CDS 4900/5900), she supervises students conducting Aural Rehabilitation therapy in the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and in the Eastern Illinois Area of Special Education Hearing Impaired Program, housed in Charleston Community Schools (CDS 5920). SHe co-advises the EIU chapter of the National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) with Mrs. Trina Becker. Mrs. Anthony serves as the 2008-2009 President of the East-Central Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ECISHA) and is currently the Vice-President Elect for Professional Affairs for the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ISHA). She previously worked as a speech-language pathologist in a private school and in private practice. Mrs. Anthony has co-authored book chapters and journal articles in collaboration with colleagues at the University of Virginia, and is currently conducting research on literacy materials used in early elementary classrooms.
