NSSLHA Update The officers and members of NSSLHA had a very busy school year, packed with events focusing on recruitment, education, fundraising, and last but not least, socialization. Two of the educational events welcomed back alumni Susie Hay, Jessica Catto, and Trisha Brengle to speak about their lives as SLPs in educational and medical settings. The students enjoyed the "real life" perspective, advice, and personal anecdotes the presenters provided. Other activities included a Halloweenie roast, movie night, and a student-faculty holiday luncheon. Our annual spring client-clinician picnic was replaced by a bowling party at the EIU Lanes. Fundraising events helped raise money for Relay for Life, Kicks for Kids, JETS (Jefferson Elementary School to support local troops), and the annual NSSLHA Loves Campaign. Advisors, Mrs. Becker and Mrs. Anthony, would like to extend a special thanks to the 2007- 2008 NSSLHA officers for organizing the events this past year. Offi cers included Katie Pippin as President, Shannon Harper as Vice-President, Brittany Barker as Secretary, Natalie Griffy-Monahan as Treasurer, and Ellen McNamara as Program Coordinator. Class representatives were Danielle Conrad, Laura Colgan, Lynne Duzan and Roger Reeter. NSSLHA is proud to announce that Roger Reeter was appointed to the position of Regional NSSLHA Counselor. He will serve as a liaison to the NSSLHA Executive Board for 3 Midwestern states. We are all very excited for him and know that he will represent EIU well.
