Geology and Geography Department

The Department of Geology/Geography offers several degrees that appeal to a wide range of students – Bachelor of Science degrees in Geology, Geography, Science with Teacher Certification in Earth Science, and Social Science with Teacher Certification in Geography. Many of our students double major within the department or take advantage of the numerous minors and interdisciplinary minors, such as the Geographic Information Science minor. The Department also participates in the interdisciplinary Masters of Science in Natural Sciences (MSNS) degree program with Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Physics.

It is often said that Geography was the first discipline to look at the world as a whole (trying to understand not only the physical world, but the cultural as well) and that geology is the synthesis of all the sciences into one discipline. So, if you would like the chance to not only see the world, but to understand it, and map it, then the Department of Geology/Geography might be for you!

We pride ourselves on producing students who have a strong background in the human and physical side of geography as well as those who want to know more about the world by studying geology. Graduates from our programs have gone on to get jobs immediately in industry or to go onto graduate programs around the country. A degree from the Department of Geology/Geography will lead to a life-long love affair with learning and understanding the world around us. Join us!
