About the Dean

Dean HannerDean Mary Anne Hanner joined the College of Sciences in 2000. Dean Hanner began her career at Eastern Illinois University in 1981 as a faculty member in the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences, served as department chair in 1999-2000, and currently holds the rank of Professor.

As a faculty member, she taught courses in the diagnosis and treatment of communication disorders, voice and voice disorders and supervised students in clinical practicum. With her co-author, Dr. Hanner has published several editions of the Language Processing Test and language processing remediation materials. Dean Hanner is a graduate of EIU (BS ’72, MS ’74) and received her Ph.D. from Indiana State University in 1994.

Dean Hanner has always been committed to professional and community service. She has served on numerous committees and held offices in state and national professional organizations. Locally she is serving on the board of Catholic Charities and CASA.

She is a native of Coles County and she and her husband, Dale, reside in nearby Oakland. She has two grown children who live in northern IL and four granddaughters.
