DO YOU PLAN TO OBSERVE IN THE SCHOOLS THIS SEMESTER?

Follow the Law!

Wear your Panther Card in an ID/Badge Holder so it is visible at all times.

Park where indicated for visitors.

Sign in and out of the building.

Dress appropriately!

No hats, T-shirts, low-cut shirts or pants.

If you cannot bend over without revealing undergarments or skin, DO NOT WEAR IT!

Remove distracting body jewelry. Many schools will only allow earrings.

Be well-groomed (e.g. teeth brushed, clean hair, clean hands/nails)

Collared shirts for males

No jeans, shorts, flip-flops...

Take your dress code cues from the building principal.

You are a guest of the school and the teacher!

Be polite to all staff and students.

If you cannot attend your assigned observation, you MUST contact the school immediately and inform the teacher. Failure to do so may jeopardize future observations in that school or with that teacher.

Write a thank-you note to the teacher, especially if you observe her/him more than once.

Act Professionally!

Be on time. Allow yourself time to park, sign in, and find the classroom. This may take as much as 10-15 extra minutes, so plan accordingly.

Do not enter the school eating, drinking, or chewing gum.

Do not smoke on school grounds.

Document your observation/participation!

Check with your EIU instructor regarding how s/he wants this done.
