David Stimac joined the faculty of Eastern Illinois University in 2023. He earned his BS Degree at Eastern Illinois University. Mr. Stimac participated in the first Administrative Intern Program sponsored by EIU and Danville School District #118 in Danville, Illinois for teachers who desired to move to administration. After earning a Master’s in Administration, the remaining 26 years of his educational career where in administration. Mr. Stimac was an elementary school teacher, elementary principal, middle school assistant principal, middle school principal and director of human resources before retiring from the Danville School System. He coached basketball and track, baseball and soccer. He served on numerous district committees, and was the Co-Chief Negotiator for the District.
Mr. Stimac’s administrative assignments with Danville allowed him to work with universities in recruiting new staff, organizing new staff orientations and assisting new staff in understanding the skills needed to be an effective educator. His goal in assisting student teachers is to prepare the students to assume a teaching position in any district. Mr. Stimac wants student teachers to have the skills necessary to effectively handle all situations that may arise once they have obtained a teaching position. He is married and has three children. One of the children is a middle school teacher.
