DUAL CAREER NETWORK

Eastern Illinois University

Successfully employing faculty members, administrators, and professional staff, often requires that the partner perceives the move inviting. The Dual Career Network assists the spouses/partners of prospective faculty members and administrators in finding employment opportunities within commuting distance of Charleston.

Procedures

The Office of Civil Rights and Diversity will work with the spouse/partner of a prospective or newly employed faculty member or administrator to identify potential vacancies at Eastern or at cooperating area employers.  To initiate the process, the Eastern hiring agent will contact the Office of Civil Rights, and refer the spouse/partner to the office.

The Civil Rights Director will contact other University hiring agents with appropriate vacancies, and request that these hiring agents review the credentials of a spouse/partner to determine if he or she is a competitive match for these vacancies.  The spouse/partner is not guaranteed University employment.

The Office of Civil Rights will also forward the spouse's/partner's credentials to identified liaisons at other area cooperating employers.  The Office of Civil Rights will encourage these employers to expedite the review of the credentials of the spouse/partner. To encourage this type of cooperation from area employers, the Office of Civil Rights may also forward the credentials of spouses/partners of their prospective candidates to appropriate University hiring agents for consideration.  In those instances where there is a match, the hiring agent will be requested to interview this individual, if an offer has not already been tendered to another candidate.  This individual is not guaranteed employment at the University.
