ON-CAMPUS H1N1 VACCINATION CLINICS PLANNED AT EIU ON NOV. 10 AND 11 Eligible EIU students and faculty/staff will have their first on-campus opportunity to receive the H1N1 vaccine on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 10 and 11.
H1N1 vaccination clinics will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days in the Lantz Concourse. (Update: Wednesday's (Nov. 11) clinic will take place in the Student Rec Center, Lantz Building.) People at high risk for the H1N1 flu and seeking to be immunized should enter the building via the north door (near the Student Recreation Center entrance). There is no charge, but those wishing to receive the vaccine should bring their Panther Card ID.
Dr. Sheila Baker, EIU medical director, said those receiving the vaccines should be from one or more of the high-risk groups:
• People between the ages of 10 and 24 years (no pediatric dosages available at this clinic);
• Pregnant women;
• Health care and emergency medical services personnel;
• People who live with or provide care for infants younger than 6 months; and
• People 25 through 64 years of age who have certain chronic medical conditions (e.g., asthma; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; liver disorders; heart disease; diabetes; cancer; neurological disorders such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy, brain or spinal cord injuries; neuromuscular disorders such as muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis; and weakened immune systems, such as people with HIV and AIDS or who are on medications that weaken the immune system).
The priority groups are established based on current U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines.
EIU Health Services continues to update its H1N1 Flu Information Web site with general information about the H1N1 flu, tips on how to prevent contracting H1N1, and regular campus updates from Dr. Baker.

PROXY USER The assignment of a proxy for timesheet approval is an important aspect of an approver’s role in managing the review and approval of employee timesheets. With the flu season in full swing and the upcoming holidays just around the corner, setting up proxies allows others to act on the behalf of the approver to process department time entry. Put simply, designating one or more proxies becomes a back-up plan for timesheet approval. For step-by-step instructions on how to set up a proxy, visit this site.

ONLINE W-2S FOR 2009 Please remember to sign up for the option to print your own W-2 online. The new year is fast approaching and once again it's time to start thinking about taxes. Employees of EIU will again have the option of receiving their W-2 forms online. By completing an online consent, employees will have online access to their W-2s 24 hours a day (with a few exceptions), and will no longer have to be dependent on the mail.
An electronic consent to receive your W-2 online must be done through PAWS (Panther Access to Web Services). PAWS can be accessed by going to EIU's home page and following the links, or going directly to the PAWS sign-on page. Once in PAWS, click the "Employee" tab at the top of the page, click on "Tax Forms," and finally click on "Electronic W-2 Consent" in the Tax Forms menu. Read the explanation of electronic consent and then check the box under "My Choice." Electronic consents will remain in effect unless revoked. Employees who provided consent last year for electronic W-2s are already set up.
Remember, the quickest and easiest way to receive your 2009 W-2 is to access it online. Employees who do not have a sign-on for PAWS can contact the Information Technology Help Desk at 581-HELP to get set up. Contact the Payroll Office at 581-2214 or 581-5510 for questions concerning electronic W-2s.
