Do you have an pplication that you would like to be made available on Citrix?

The Campus Community may request applications be made available from the Citrix Server. We recommend a months notice prior to announcing the availability of a new application being made available on Citrix. We must address certain issues when considering applications for publishing on Citrix.

1. EULA Licensing Specifications
2. Any known Application/Citrix incompatibilities
3. Publish from Desktop
4. Publish as an Application
5. Available for all, only students, only faculty, on or off campus, only for classroom use…
6. Does a Shared Class Account need to be created, if so, when should it expire?

The procedure for requesting new applications be added to Citrix:

1. contact the ITS Helpdesk in person or by phone (581-HELP)
2. a Magic Ticket will be issued containing important information such as: Name, College, phone number and office location of requestor, name of application, number of licenses available, the context that the application should be made available (to the general campus, classroom environment only, on and/or off campus….).
3. the Magic Ticket will be forwarded to Don Braswell, and he will assign it to the Citrix Admins
4. the Citrix Admins will contact the requestor to establish timeline and to get clarification of any issues

Does your class need access to Citrix applications?

Faculty whose classes need access to Citrix Applications must request a Citrix Class Account (Active Directory Domain User Account) be created. The CCA is assigned to the Faculty member for the academic year and may be used for any class that the faculty member teaches. The CCA will be disabled at the end of the academic year and may be reenabled for the faculty member upon request. This single shared Citrix Class Account will be used by each student in that class. The password will be valid for that semester only. Students will authenticate twice, first with their email account (LDAP) then with this CCA (the username/password we’ll assign for that instructor).

The procedure for requesting a Citrix Class Account:

1. contact the ITS Helpdesk in person or by phone (581-HELP).
2. provide the following information: Name, College, phone number and office location of requestor, name of application(s) being used in class).
3. the Magic Ticket will be forwarded to Don Braswell, and he will assign it to the Citrix Admins
4. the Citrix Admins will contact the requestor to establish a timeline and to get clarification of any issues, to inform the requestor of the username and password and to ensure the requestor knows how the students will access Citrix.

Procedure for Reporting Citrix Issues

Please report all Citrix issues to the ITS Helpdesk as soon as possible. The Magic Ticket will be created and forwarded to the appropriate/available member of the Citrix Administrators Team. If you think an issue requires immediate attention (one of a High Priority nature), then call or email Don Braswell, and he will assign it to the available member of the Citrix Administrators Team, and we will write up the ticket. We intend to have Citrix up and running 24/7 and limit downtime to planned upgrades or power outages and maintenance.

Citrix ICA Client

An ICA Client is required to be installed on each computer (Windows, Linus, Mac) needing Citrix access. This is the program used to run any application available on the Citrix Presentation Server. Once logged in, client download links are posted under the Notices from EIU Citrix Administrators section. Select the link that corresponds to your Operating System. Other clients are available from support.citrix.com which is also a link under the Message Center section

ICA Client Download Site from Citrix.com
