Faculty & Staff Resources

Faculty and staff play a vital role in the promotion of Career Services to EIU students. We are always eager to collaborate with faculty and staff to provide students with the essential tools of career development. Career Services has numerous services and resources to support students as they choose majors, search for jobs and internships, and research career and graduate school opportunities. If you have a student in need, please refer them to our office.

Classroom Presentations

Career Services staff are available to make presentations to classes and student organizations about the resources and services available.  We also conduct a wide variety presentations on career planning and job hunting topics, including, but not limited to:

  • Choosing a major/career
  • Resume/Cover Letters
  • Interviewing
  • Job Search Strategies
  • Networking
  • Career Fair Preparation
  • Internship Search
  • Grad School Options

Events/Workshops

View our current list of workshops and Career Fair events.  Announce them to your students in class!

Career Planning/Picking a Major

Many students come to Eastern as undecided majors or simply do not know what types of careers they can obtain with the major that they have chosen.  Career Services provides a variety of tools for students to use when determining the right career field for them.

InterviewStream

Career Services introduces InterviewStream, an online video-based mock interview system, geared towards the YouTube and MySpace Generation.  Students can now take their interviewing techniques to the next level--making interviewing smarter, not harder.  This online system can be integrated into your classroom curriculum and projects.  Call Career Services to find out how.

Letters of Recommendation

As a faculty member, you have been called upon many times to write letters of recommendation for students applying for jobs, internships, and graduate school admission, among other things. Due to growing concern over what should and should not be included in a letter of recommendation, we are providing you with helpful resources and guidelines.
