Bertrand P. Holley Business Ethics & Social Responsibility Collection at Booth Library
The Bertrand P. Holley Business Ethics and Social Responsibility Collection was officially unveiled during a reception on March 6, 2013, in the Booth Library West Reading Room on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.
Bertrand P. Holley served as a distinguished and dedicated business professor at Eastern for more than 40 years. The Bertrand P. Holley Business Ethics and Social Responsibility Fund was established in order to perpetuate the ideals of Holley, who was committed to advancing ethics and social responsibility.
Dr. Cheryl Noll, chair of the School of Business, said that Holley “had a belief that we should conduct ourselves in a manner that is compassionate and thoughtful, not just in our personal lives, but also in our professional interactions.” She said that he imparted his ideals to his students, teaching them “that they need to think beyond themselves and understand how they can positively impact those around them.” In addition to the library collection, the Bertrand P. Holley Business Ethics and Social Responsibility Fund has been used to bring speakers to campus to share their insights with students and faculty, to provide awards to faculty for integrating the coverage of ethics into the classroom and their research, and to provide faculty professional development.
