Securities Analysis Center Provides Integrative Learning
At the School of Business, the state-of-the-art Securities Analysis Center (SAC) provides a hands-on learning environment using the same hardware and software used by professionals on an actual trading floor. The SAC provides students with experiential learning opportunities. Finance students enrolled in FIN 4220 (Applied Securities Analysis) are given the opportunity to integrate investment and portfolio management concepts with applications to real-time portfolio managements. Through the Securities Analysis Center, students manage an actual portfolio and make decisions based on current market conditions and analysis.
The Securities Analysis Center, dedicated in 2006, was made possible by the efforts of the School of Business Advisory Board and several generous donors. The following have been honored as "Blue Chip Donors": Tom McDaniel, Carl Mito, Steve Gosselin, Rudy Hlavek, Charles Witters, and Don & Mary Gher. Additionally, the SAC continues to be updated and renovated, thanks in large part to the Carl and Marion Mito Excellence in Finance Fund.
The School of Business Securities Analysis Center was recently featured on the "EIU 360" series. The article and its accompanying video can be viewed here: http://eiu.edu/eiu360/story.php?id=62364
