EIU's School of Business Hosted HR Games 2013
On February 22nd and 23rd, 2013, EIU's School of Business hosted the Illinois State HR Games. Six Illinois universities participated: Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State University, Northern Illinois University, Roosevelt University, U of I-Champaign-Urbana, and U of I-Springfield. This was the third annual event, which has been previously hosted by Northern Illinois University and Illinois State University.
EIU hosted a three-part challenge. The first competition was an individual exam, comprised of 60 multiple choice questions, with students from ISU and UIS winning the top two spots. The second competition was a case study competition where the students were asked to analyze an HR situation and recommend a solution. NIU placed first in the case study competition, with UIUC claiming second place. The third and final competition was a Jeopardy-style round robin, where the students were quizzed on a variety of HR concepts. This competition was won by NIU, with ISU placing second.
The 2013 Illinois State HR Games provided an opportunity for students, academics, and HR professionals to network, which would not have been possible without the generous support of Illinois SHRM, EIU's School of Business, EIU's SHRM Student Chapter, HRA-ECI, and RR Donnelley.
The 2014 Illinois State HR Games are slated to be hosted by Roosevelt University.
