| All businesses and organizations depend on information systems to produce and maintain the data needed for decision-making. The Management Information Systems (MIS) major prepares students to design, develop, and manage information systems within organizations. MIS majors develop a foundation of business knowledge and skills that is complemented by more in-depth study of information technology. All MIS majors complete a core of 3 classes that provide a foundation in programming constructs, information systems theory, systems analysis, database, and telecommunications. MIS majors may also select a general concentration that allows them to design their own program or majors can select a specialized concentration in either programming or network technologies. Majors have a wide variety of MIS and other electives to choose from. Many majors choose to double major within the School of Business or choose a minor that enhances their career opportunities.
Students customize their major by selecting 5 courses from the MIS Major
Electives list.
Students complete 4 upper-division courses in COBOL and Java plus 1
elective from the MIS Major Electives list.
Students complete 4 upper-division courses in web design, web application
development, advanced networking and security plus 1 elective from the
MIS Major electives list.
