EIU Resources for Students in the B.S.B. in Business Administration Program at Parkland

The following resources are available through EIU for students enrolled in the BSB Program at Parkland:

Textbooks will be delivered to you on the first night of each class. At the end of the semester, you will receive instructions on returning the textbooks. (EIU uses a textbook rental system.) Your fees include the textbook rental fee.

If you have questions about your billing statement, please see: http://www.eiu.edu/~busofc/bursar/accountinfo.php

EIU’s School of Continuing Education (SCE) co-sponsors most of EIU’s classes at Parkland. Check out SCE’s website for useful information including notices of class cancellations or modifications due to weather: http://www.eiu.edu/~adulted/home/index.php

PAWS is the student online system that helps you keep track of your academic life. Your PAWS account allows you to complete important tasks (like registering for classes) and provides access to lots of information including:
• Records: Grades, Transfer Evaluations, Degree Audit, Application for Graduation
• Registration: Printable class schedules, web-based registration, and drop/add capabilities
• Financial Aid: Aid award information, required documentation needed to complete the application, and loan eligibility amounts
• Business Office: Amount owed for the current semester, a breakdown of current charges, and due dates
• E-mail/Web-CT: Web-CT and e-mail accounts

Access PAWS from:
EIU’s home page: http://www.eiu.edu
PAWS website: : http://www.eiu.edu/paws

New students: To access PAWS, you will need your EIU Net ID and Net Password. If you have not yet received that information, please contact Professor Roszkowski at croszkowski@eiu.edu.

EIU and the School of Business will send important information to you through your EIU Email Account. Please set up your email account and check it regularly! Instructions on setting up your email account are available at:
http://its.eiu.edu/email/panther.php

WebCT is a web-based system that is used for delivery of online classes and to provide tools and information for traditionally delivered classes. If the instructor of any of your classes uses WebCT, you will need to become familiar with the system. To learn about WebCT see: http://www.eiu.edu/vce/student/index.php

As an EIU student, you have access to library materials at EIU’s Booth Library and at other Illinois academic libraries including those at Parkland College and the University of Illinois. For online access to Booth Library’s databases from off-campus, you will need a library number that is available through your PAWS account (under “Student Passwords & Keys”). The instructors for all of your classes should also have a library number that can be used to access Booth Library’s databases. If you want to check out materials from any Illinois academic library, you will need an ID card (see below).

Student ID cards for off-campus students can be requested online at: http://www.eiu.edu/~adulted/current/requestidcard.php

If you attend on-campus at Charleston, you will be issued a campus ID card (Panther Card: http://www.eiu.edu/~campusid/).

Students in the EIU Business program at Parkland may use EIU’s Career Services which provides a wealth of online resources that you may use in looking for jobs or internships. You also are welcome to attend on-campus events including workshops and Career Network Days. See Career Services’ website for more details: http://www.eiu.edu/~careers/home

Be sure to check the official Academic Calendar for important academic deadlines (such as last day to add classes or drop classes) and official holidays. The Academic Calendar is online at: http://www.eiu.edu/~registra/acacal.html#Acacal2007-2008

Each semester, class schedules are posted online through PAWS. You can also easily access the off-campus schedules from EIU’s home page (see the “Academics” menu on the left side of page: http://www.eiu.edu/) and from the School of Continuing Education’s home page (see the “Current Student” box on the left side of the page: http://www.eiu.edu/~adulted/home/index.php).
