School Violence

Has ever threatened when angry. Has ever brought a gun to school. Is isolated a lot. Has ever threatened to commit suicide or homicide

39,000 annual deaths are from firearms. Approximately 8% of high school students bring guns to school. 70% of violent Juveniles lack parental supervision. Teachers believe that certain parental procedures cause school violence. Violent kids spend more time watching TV than at school.

New generation of killers are middle class, suburban teenagers.  Usually social outcasts and not connected to gangs.  Littleton, CO-15 dead, 28 wounded. 14 more dead around the country.  Arkansas, a 12 and 13 yr old  kills 5.

Keep guns locked, unloaded and in a case         where kids can’t reach them. Keep ammo in a locked box separate from the guns. Make sure kids know that violence on TV is not real. Make sure kids understand that guns will hurt people in real life.

Banned hand guns from under-aged youth. Banned sawed-off shot-guns.  Made a waiting period of 3 days  Outlawed some high-capacity clips.

We are in favor of the following: Background checks and waiting periods on all guns for 5 days. Trigger locks required with sale of each firearm. Any student possessing a firearm at a school will be expelled and have their license revoked. Amend laws to say parents are responsible of minors(under 18) who have committed crimes with the parents’ gun. Cameras, locks and buzzers should be required as well as police officers at every door.

We are against the following: Banning of handguns. School Uniforms. See through book bags. Ten Commandments being displayed in every classroom.
