Who Can Donate Blood?
 | People 17 years of age or older. |

 | It is recommended that people eat something substantial prior to donation
as well as drink more fluids than usual. |
What about piercings or tattoos?
 | You are unable to donate blood for six months after getting a body
piercing or one year after getting a tattoo. |
How often can people donate?
 | People can give blood every 56 days. |
How long will it take to donate?
 | Giving blood takes about an hour, and a pint is usually taken.
Everyone who donates is given a mini-physical prior to donating. Blood
pressure, weight and iron amounts are checked. |
What happens next?
 | People should avoid strenuous activity for about five hours after donation
and should drink plenty of fluids. |
